These prisoners have publish their photograph and information about themselves, and have invited YOU into their lives. Studies prove that recidivism is lower when inmates have folks on the outside taking an interest in them. When you write a prisoner it is an act of faith - faith that you can reach out and make a positive difference in another person's life.
